I’ve been doing woodworking for a few years now but hadn’t gotten around to getting myself a Lathe. Since woodworking is something I really enjoy, I finally decided to treat myself to a good quality lathe.  The Jet 708360 was highly recommended to me by some buddies who also greatly enjoy woodworking.

Initially I wanted to purchase a much more expensive and larger lathe like the Oneway.  But it’s mainly just very hefty and very expensive and does pretty much the same job as the JET 708360.

The Jet  is quite a bit less pricey and in general does the type of work I’m interested in.  I was glad to find that it was easy to assemble.   The holes were flawlessly aligned, a good thing since I have had to deal with poorly aligned openings with other that had to be put together.  

For the JET 708360’s performance, I’ve been extremely pleased.  It honestly works well and it is very quiet and has zero vibration.  I get a smooth cut and no vibration makes polishing a lot simplier and easier. It also has a really good tail sock, a durable motor, and the belt adjustment is easy to maneuver.  Plus, it has a very useful tool rack where you can keep your other tools.  I’ve been quite pleased with it.

I honestly don’t have any large complaints with it and the shipping was free of charge when I got it from Amazon.   In my opinion, the Jet 708360 was a great deal.  It delivers a a lot of value compared to buying a more expensive unit pretty much  just for bragging rights.

I haven’t had any regrets so far with the lathe.  Based on my experience, I think most woodworkers will be pleased with the Jet 708360 because it has certainly lived up to my expectations.

I find that doing woodworking is quite a passion, so I finally decided to try my hand at shaping and doing more elaborate carpentry.  The Powermatic 1791227K also came highly recommended by some buddies who share my passion for woodworking.

Initially I wanted to purchase a much more expensive and larger lathe like the Oneway.  But it’s really just very hefty and very expensive and does pretty much the same job as the JET 708360.

The Jet  is much cheaper and generally does the type of work I’m interested in.  I was pleasantly surprised that it was easy to assemble.   The holes were perfectly aligned, a good thing since I have had to deal with misaligned holes with other products.  

For the unit’s performance, I couldn’t have asked for a better machine.  It really works well and it is very quiet and has zero vibration.  I get a smooth cut and no vibration makes polishing a lot easier. This lathe has a good fit, the unit is heavy enough to prevent sudden shifting while using it and the finish is quite good.  I think the quality of the product is topnotch and it’s designed both for the novice and seasoned woodworker.

Almost everyone wants to try playing the violin and dreaming of producing a beautiful and breath taking music out of it. I myself wished that I can learn playing it without difficulty. We may find it difficult at first when learning to play violin and we end up getting frustrated. Most of us want to learn it in an instant but this is not the way to learn how to play the violin. If we find ourselves getting angry for not being able to hit the right tune, we can rest and put the violin on the side for a while until we have calmed down and we can start again. Learning the violin entails patience. We must practice it on our allotted time and in the future, the results of our efforts will be all worth it. They key attitude to use when wanting to learn the proper way to play the violin is to never give up and practice more.

Since I work out of my garage and do odd jobs for friends, I needed a good quality portable lathe that I can lag around my SUV and bring wherever my job takes me.  But I was on a budget but didn’t want to buy crap, but couldn’t afford the really pricey lathes I keep seeing on Sears and Lowes.

Was I glad when I saw this JET 708360. I couldn’t believe it was priced less than a thousand. It seems to be a good quality lathe but the price was unbelievable.  I shopped around and did some research to make sure that this piece of equipment wasn’t junk and I was happy to find that the reviews of the lathe wasn’t half as bad as I expected from a relatively cheaper unit.

I ordered the lathe-via Amazon, unfortunately it wasn’t part of the free shipping but the additional $30 bucks really wasn’t a big deal.  What’s best is that the package arrived on schedule and without any damage neither on the packaging nor on the unit itself.

I was also happy that set up was a breeze, there was virtually no set up. It was also a wonder that everything flowed smoothly, it is quite easy to switch between the settingsand even the blade guard was easy to maneuver. I didn’t need to twist or bend or fight with the unit just to get things on or off.     

And although the unit looks heavy, it is surprisingly easy to maneuver and move about. It is not light by any standards but it is quite nimble and I didn’t have a hard time maneuvering it.

The gravity stand of this JET 708360 unit is also heavy duty and easy to assemble. The blades are very durable and it has a quality standard, I have cut a variety of hard wood on it without having any problems at all. 

One of the downside of this JET unit will probably be that it is a bit on the noisy side,

This unit was probably intended as a worksite lathe but it is definitely ideal for use of the home wood workers more so for those who needs space saving equipment. With its foldable stand you can just roll away when you are done working. I highly recommend this one, you sure can’t go wrong when you buy this JET 708360 Benchtop saw.
